Although Pearce's work has had academic impact, by his own admission, his ideas lack the necessary philosophical underpinnings. In Virtue and Social Enterprise: Ethical Alternatives to Capitalism, Geraldine Hall draws on MacIntyre to provide such underpinnings. Through a novel synthesis of the works of these two authors, a philosophical grounding is given to Pearce's radical form of social enterprise. In turn, MacIntyre's views on virtue are given greater scope to address global issues created by the capitalist paradigm. With a foreword by Kelvin Knight, this book will be of great interest to scholars and students of Alasdair MacIntyre, virtue ethics, business ethics and social responsibility. Geraldine Hall has previously taught at the University of South Wales as a Senior Lecturer and was a dissertation supervisor at Cardiff Metropolitan University. She is currently a freelance writer. 001449503 588__ $$aOnline resource; title from PDF title page (SpringerLink, viewed September 14, 2022). 001449503 650_0 $$aCapitalism$$xSocial aspects. 001449503 650_0 $$aBusiness ethics. 001449503 650_0 $$aSocial responsibility of business. 001449503 650_0 $$aSocial entrepreneurship. 001449503 655_0 $$aElectronic books. 001449503 77608 $$iPrint version:$$z3031140265$$z9783031140266$$w(OCoLC)1334883525 001449503 852__ $$bebk 001449503 85640 $$3Springer Nature$$uhttps://univsouthin.idm.oclc.org/login?url=https://link.springer.com/10.1007/978-3-031-14027-3$$zOnline Access$$91397441.1 001449503 909CO $$ooai:library.usi.edu:1449503$$pGLOBAL_SET 001449503 980__ $$aBIB 001449503 980__ $$aEBOOK 001449503 982__ $$aEbook 001449503 983__ $$aOnline 001449503 994__ $$a92$$bISE
