It argues that in all three countries, a reluctance to confront undesirable parts of their national histories is the root cause explaining why the state-funded Second World War memorial museums remain stuck in the postsocialist transition. In most cases, Second World War museums, exhibitions, and displays conceived in the Yugoslav period have been left unchanged. However, there are also examples where new sections were added to the old ones and there are a small number of completely reconceptualized permanent exhibitions. The transitional position of the Second World War museums has made it possible to view these institutions as historical formations in their own right. The book will appeal to students and academics working in the fields of heritage and museums studies, memory studies, and cultural history of Southeast-Europe. Natasa Jagdhuhn is a Museologist whose research focuses on memory constructs in the successor states of Yugoslavia, museum transformation in the post-socialist countries of Europe, the history of museology from a Global South perspective, and current debates on decolonizing heritage worldwide. 001449779 588__ $$aOnline resource; title from PDF title page (SpringerLink, viewed October 5, 2022). 001449779 647_7 $$aWorld War$$d(1939-1945)$$2fast$$0(OCoLC)fst01180924 001449779 650_0 $$aWorld War, 1939-1945$$xMuseums$$zFormer Yugoslav republics. 001449779 650_0 $$aWorld War, 1939-1945$$zYugoslavia$$xHistoriography. 001449779 650_0 $$aWar and society$$zFormer Yugoslav republics. 001449779 650_0 $$aCollective memory$$zFormer Yugoslav republics. 001449779 655_0 $$aElectronic books. 001449779 77608 $$iPrint version:$$aJagdhuhn, Nataša.$$tPost-Yugoslav metamuseums.$$dBasingstoke : Palgrave Macmillan, 2022$$z9783031102271$$w(OCoLC)1346320607 001449779 830_0 $$aPalgrave studies in cultural heritage and conflict.$$x2634-6427 001449779 852__ $$bebk 001449779 85640 $$3Springer Nature$$uhttps://univsouthin.idm.oclc.org/login?url=https://link.springer.com/10.1007/978-3-031-10228-8$$zOnline Access$$91397441.1 001449779 909CO $$ooai:library.usi.edu:1449779$$pGLOBAL_SET 001449779 980__ $$aBIB 001449779 980__ $$aEBOOK 001449779 982__ $$aEbook 001449779 983__ $$aOnline 001449779 994__ $$a92$$bISE
