Thus, when Spinoza declared that the "will of God" is the "sanctuary of ignorance," when Marx provocatively maintained that "criticism of religion is the premise of all criticism," or when Darwin polemicized against a millennial creationist approach, all were taking a stand that invited us to view our world through a secular and immanent lens. In addition to this common thread, Martins discusses other issues present in the works of these thinkers, for instance the space that exists for human subjectivity from a Marxist perspective (which is not to be confused with philosophical "objectivism"): men and women are encouraged to act in the world. With this conceptual background, the concluding chapters of the book address the proliferation of some less examined Christian fundamentalisms in contemporary world, presenting an explanatory hypothesis for the phenomenon. 001450231 546__ $$aTranslated from Portuguese. 001450231 588__ $$aDescription based on print version record. 001450231 60010 $$aMarx, Karl,$$d1818-1883$$1https://isni.org/isni/0000000122796570 001450231 60010 $$aSpinoza, Benedictus de,$$d1632-1677$$1https://isni.org/isni/0000000122773344 001450231 60010 $$aDarwin, Charles,$$d1809-1882. 001450231 650_0 $$aPhilosophy and religion. 001450231 655_0 $$aElectronic books. 001450231 77608 $$iPrint version:$$aVIEIRA MARTINS, MAURICIO.$$tMARX, SPINOZA AND DARWIN.$$d[Place of publication not identified] : PALGRAVE MACMILLAN, 2022$$z3031130243$$w(OCoLC)1334651808 001450231 830_0 $$aMarx, Engels, and Marxisms. 001450231 852__ $$bebk 001450231 85640 $$3Springer Nature$$uhttps://univsouthin.idm.oclc.org/login?url=https://link.springer.com/10.1007/978-3-031-13025-0$$zOnline Access$$91397441.1 001450231 909CO $$ooai:library.usi.edu:1450231$$pGLOBAL_SET 001450231 980__ $$aBIB 001450231 980__ $$aEBOOK 001450231 982__ $$aEbook 001450231 983__ $$aOnline 001450231 994__ $$a92$$bISE
