This new edition, like the first, contains chapters from countries in Asia, Africa, and South America as well as from indigenous cultures of several Western countries. The chapters were revised to include new research in the post-pandemic world. They show that there is a strong connection between culture and parenting: there are differences in affection and distance, harshness and repression, and acceptance and criticism. Some parents insist on obedience; others are concerned with individual development. This clearly differs from parent to parent, but there is just as clearly a connection to culture, which these chapters explore. In addition to the chapters on individual countries, the second edition includes a section on the pandemic, as well as new research on parenting and technology, gender, religion, adoption, step parenting, divorce, single parents, racism, gay parents, disabilities, autism, eating habits, transgender, attachment, migration, bullying, and refugee resettlement. 001451450 588__ $$aOnline resource; title from PDF title page (SpringerLink, viewed December 9, 2022). 001451450 650_0 $$aParenting$$vCross-cultural studies. 001451450 655_7 $$aCross-cultural studies.$$2fast$$0(OCoLC)fst01423769 001451450 655_0 $$aElectronic books. 001451450 7001_ $$aSelin, Helaine,$$d1946-$$eeditor. 001451450 77608 $$iPrint version: $$z3031153588$$z9783031153587$$w(OCoLC)1336954797 001451450 830_0 $$aScience across cultures ;$$vv. 12. 001451450 852__ $$bebk 001451450 85640 $$3Springer Nature$$uhttps://univsouthin.idm.oclc.org/login?url=https://link.springer.com/10.1007/978-3-031-15359-4$$zOnline Access$$91397441.1 001451450 909CO $$ooai:library.usi.edu:1451450$$pGLOBAL_SET 001451450 980__ $$aBIB 001451450 980__ $$aEBOOK 001451450 982__ $$aEbook 001451450 983__ $$aOnline 001451450 994__ $$a92$$bISE
