It explores the war and its impact on societies involved by delving into the myths that surround it, the realities that have often been ignored or suppressed, and its lasting legacies on national identities and histories. It also explores memory and commemoration in Greece, in other countries impacted, and the Greek diaspora. This book offers a fresh perspective on this pivotal event in Greek, Ottoman, Balkan, Mediterranean, European, and world histories. Yianni Cartledge is a PhD candidate at Flinders University, South Australia. His research explores migration from the Aegean islands to the Anglosphere between 1815-1945. His current case studies include the Ikarians of South Australia and Chiots of London. This is his first edited volume. Andrekos Varnava is Professor of Imperial History at Flinders University, South Australia. He has published four monographs and more than 50 peer-reviewed articles/book chapters on the history of the British Empire, specifically in Cyprus, on the Armenian Question, and on British and Australian migration histories. This is his eleventh edited volume. . 001451477 588__ $$aOnline resource; title from PDF title page (SpringerLink, viewed December 9, 2022). 001451477 647_7 $$aWar of Independence$$c(Greece :$$d1821-1829)$$2fast$$0(OCoLC)fst01355287 001451477 651_0 $$aGreece$$xHistory$$yWar of Independence, 1821-1829. 001451477 655_7 $$aHistory.$$2fast$$0(OCoLC)fst01411628 001451477 655_0 $$aElectronic books. 001451477 7001_ $$aCartledge, Yianni,$$eeditor. 001451477 7001_ $$aVarnava, Andrekos,$$eeditor. 001451477 77608 $$iPrint version:$$z3031108485$$z9783031108488$$w(OCoLC)1330403666 001451477 852__ $$bebk 001451477 85640 $$3Springer Nature$$uhttps://univsouthin.idm.oclc.org/login?url=https://link.springer.com/10.1007/978-3-031-10849-5$$zOnline Access$$91397441.1 001451477 909CO $$ooai:library.usi.edu:1451477$$pGLOBAL_SET 001451477 980__ $$aBIB 001451477 980__ $$aEBOOK 001451477 982__ $$aEbook 001451477 983__ $$aOnline 001451477 994__ $$a92$$bISE
