It is the first volume devoted to the role of women in early analytic philosophy. It discusses the ideas of ten female philosophers and covers a period of over a hundred years, beginning with the contribution to the Significs Movement by Victoria, Lady Welby in the second half of the nineteenth century, and ending with Ruth Barcan Marcuss celebrated version of quantified modal logic after the Second World War. The book makes clear that women contributed substantially to the development of analytic philosophy in all areas of philosophy, from logic, epistemology, and philosophy of science, to ethics, metaphysics, and philosophy of language. It illustrates that although women's voices were no different from men's as regards their scope and versatility, they had a much harder time being heard. The book is aimed at historians of philosophy and scholars in gender studies. 001452266 588__ $$aDescription based on print version record. 001452266 650_0 $$aWomen philosophers$$xHistory$$vCongresses. 001452266 650_0 $$aAnalysis (Philosophy)$$xHistory$$vCongresses. 001452266 655_0 $$aElectronic books. 001452266 7001_ $$aPeijnenburg, Adriana Johanna Maria,$$d1952-$$eeditor.$$1https://isni.org/isni/0000000109916806 001452266 7001_ $$aVerhaegh, Sander,$$eeditor.$$1https://isni.org/isni/0000000478580236 001452266 7112_ $$aWomen in the History of Analytic Philosophy (Workshop)$$d(2019 :$$cTilburg, Netherlands) 001452266 77608 $$iPrint version:$$aWomen in the History of Analytic Philosophy (Workshop) (2019 : Tilburg, Netherlands), creator.$$tWomen in the history of analytic philosophy.$$dCham : Springer, 2022$$z9783031085925$$w(OCoLC)1346321629 001452266 830_0 $$aWomen in the history of philosophy and sciences ;$$vv. 15. 001452266 852__ $$bebk 001452266 85640 $$3Springer Nature$$uhttps://univsouthin.idm.oclc.org/login?url=https://link.springer.com/10.1007/978-3-031-08593-2$$zOnline Access$$91397441.1 001452266 909CO $$ooai:library.usi.edu:1452266$$pGLOBAL_SET 001452266 980__ $$aBIB 001452266 980__ $$aEBOOK 001452266 982__ $$aEbook 001452266 983__ $$aOnline 001452266 994__ $$a92$$bISE
