The first aspect is conceptual, which characterizes mathematics as the invention of and working with concepts, rather than only by its logical nature. The second, Pythagorean, aspect is grounded, first, in the interplay of geometry and algebra in modern mathematics, and secondly, in the epistemologically most radical form of modern mathematics, designated in this study as radical Pythagorean mathematics. This form of mathematics is defined by the role of that which beyond the limits of thought in mathematical thinking, or in ancient Greek terms, used in the books title, an alogon in the logos of mathematics. The outcome of this investigation is a new philosophical and historical understanding of the nature of modern mathematics and mathematics in general. The book is addressed to mathematicians, mathematical physicists, and philosophers and historians of mathematics, and graduate students in these fields. 001452285 588__ $$aDescription based on online resource; title from digital title page (viewed on February 27, 2023). 001452285 650_0 $$aMathematics$$xPhilosophy. 001452285 655_0 $$aElectronic books. 001452285 77608 $$iPrint version: $$z3031136772$$z9783031136771$$w(OCoLC)1334719253 001452285 852__ $$bebk 001452285 85640 $$3Springer Nature$$uhttps://univsouthin.idm.oclc.org/login?url=https://link.springer.com/10.1007/978-3-031-13678-8$$zOnline Access$$91397441.1 001452285 909CO $$ooai:library.usi.edu:1452285$$pGLOBAL_SET 001452285 980__ $$aBIB 001452285 980__ $$aEBOOK 001452285 982__ $$aEbook 001452285 983__ $$aOnline 001452285 994__ $$a92$$bISE
