The author maps out various specific locations of the city through the intertwined disciplines of street photography, autoethnography and psychogeography. By meandering through the urban landscape and taking street photographs, this form of practice is open to the various metaphors, atmospheres and visual discourses offered up by the street scenes. The result is a practice-led research project informed by both documentary and creative writing that seeks to articulate thinking via the process of art-making. As a research project on the affective mapping of places in the city, the book examines what Hong Kong is, as thought and felt by the person on the street. It explores the everyday experiences afforded by the city through the figure of the flaneur wandering in shopping districts and street markets. Through his own street photographs and drawing from the writings of Byung-Chul Han, Walter Benjamin and Michel de Certeau, the author explores feelings, affects, and states of mind as he explores the city and its social life. Born in Singapore and a long-term resident in Hong Kong, Eddie Tay is a poet and a street photographer. He is Associate Professor in the Department of English, The Chinese University of Hong Kong. . 001452464 588__ $$aDescription based on print version record. 001452464 650_0 $$aSocial psychology$$zChina$$zHong Kong. 001452464 650_0 $$aEnvironmental psychology$$zChina$$zHong Kong. 001452464 650_0 $$aStreet photography$$zChina$$zHong Kong. 001452464 650_0 $$aArt and society$$zChina$$zHong Kong. 001452464 651_0 $$aHong Kong (China)$$xIn art. 001452464 655_0 $$aElectronic books. 001452464 77608 $$iPrint version:$$aTAY, EDDIE.$$tHONG KONG AS CREATIVE PRACTICE.$$d[Place of publication not identified] : PALGRAVE MACMILLAN, 2023$$z3031213610$$w(OCoLC)1347695311 001452464 830_0 $$aPalgrave studies in creativity and culture. 001452464 852__ $$bebk 001452464 85640 $$3Springer Nature$$uhttps://univsouthin.idm.oclc.org/login?url=https://link.springer.com/10.1007/978-3-031-21362-5$$zOnline Access$$91397441.1 001452464 909CO $$ooai:library.usi.edu:1452464$$pGLOBAL_SET 001452464 980__ $$aBIB 001452464 980__ $$aEBOOK 001452464 982__ $$aEbook 001452464 983__ $$aOnline 001452464 994__ $$a92$$bISE
