For many years, Italian migration studies in the United States have commented on the way cinema contributed to the creation of an identifiable Italian American identity. More recently, scholars have recognized the existence of a more nuanced plurality of Italian American identities that reflects social and historical elements, class backgrounds, and the relationship with other ethnic minorities. The second part of the book challenges the most common stereotypes of Italian Americanness: food (Big Night) and Mafia, deconstructing the criminal tropes that have contributed to shaping the perception of Italian-American mafiosi in The Funeral, Goodfellas, Donnie Brasco, and the first two chapters of the Godfather trilogy. At the crossroads of the fields of Italian Culture, Italian American Culture, Film Studies, and Migration Studies, Italian Americans in Film is written not only for undergraduate and graduate students but also for scholars who teach courses on Italian American Cinema and Visual Culture." --$$cProvided by the publisher. 001453385 650_0 $$aItalian Americans in motion pictures. 001453385 650_0 $$aItalian Americans$$xEthnic identity. 001453385 650_0 $$aNational characteristics in motion pictures. 001453385 655_0 $$aElectronic books. 001453385 7001_ $$aFioretti, Daniele,$$eeditor. 001453385 7001_ $$aOrsitto, Fulvio,$$eeditor. 001453385 77608 $$iPrint version:$$z303106464X$$z9783031064647$$w(OCoLC)1312150671 001453385 77608 $$iPrint version:$$tItalian Americans in film$$z9783031064647$$w(OCoLC)1346505774 001453385 830_0 $$aItalian and Italian American studies. 001453385 852__ $$bebk 001453385 85640 $$3Springer Nature$$uhttps://univsouthin.idm.oclc.org/login?url=https://link.springer.com/10.1007/978-3-031-06465-4$$zOnline Access$$91397441.1 001453385 909CO $$ooai:library.usi.edu:1453385$$pGLOBAL_SET 001453385 980__ $$aBIB 001453385 980__ $$aEBOOK 001453385 982__ $$aEbook 001453385 983__ $$aOnline 001453385 994__ $$a92$$bISE
