Examining what it means to be a vegan man and connections between men, masculinities and veganism addresses exploitative human-animal relations, climate change, and social inequalities as urgent and interconnected global issues. Using conceptual insights from critical studies on men and masculinities, ecofeminism, critical animal studies and vegan studies, this book examines the potential of mens veganism and vegan masculinities to foster more ethical, caring and sustainable ways of relating to nonhuman animals and to contribute towards more egalitarian gender relations. This book is grounded in a qualitative empirical study of the lived experiences of 61 vegan men in Northern Europe. The themes explored include mens transition to veganism, the emotional and embodied dimensions of mens veganism, negotiating social and intimate relationships as vegan men, and links between mens veganism, gender equality and social justice. 001454585 588__ $$aDescription based on print version record. 001454585 650_0 $$aMen$$zEurope, Northern. 001454585 650_0 $$aMasculinity$$xSocial aspects$$zEurope, Northern. 001454585 650_0 $$aVeganism$$xSocial aspects$$zEurope, Northern. 001454585 655_0 $$aElectronic books. 001454585 77608 $$iPrint version:$$aAAVIK, KADRI.$$tCONTESTING ANTHROPOCENTRIC MASCULINITIES THROUGH VEGANISM.$$d[Place of publication not identified] : PALGRAVE MACMILLAN, 2023$$z303119506X$$w(OCoLC)1346068395 001454585 852__ $$bebk 001454585 85640 $$3Springer Nature$$uhttps://univsouthin.idm.oclc.org/login?url=https://link.springer.com/10.1007/978-3-031-19507-5$$zOnline Access$$91397441.1 001454585 909CO $$ooai:library.usi.edu:1454585$$pGLOBAL_SET 001454585 980__ $$aBIB 001454585 980__ $$aEBOOK 001454585 982__ $$aEbook 001454585 983__ $$aOnline 001454585 994__ $$a92$$bISE
