In previous research on family firms and business families, the comparative cross-cultural approach of anthropology has so far received little attention. As a result, family firms and business families are too often analyzed without considering cultural and kinship differences adequately. Similarly, although the topics of kinship and the economy are central to anthropological analysis, research on family firms and business families has been a marginal topic only that lacks in-depth discussions within anthropology. This volume breaks the mold by offering new empirical and theoretical insights into discussion about business families and family firms from a comparative cross-cultural perspective. It first addresses how the business family can be defined in different cultures and how kinship becomes understandable as a process and through doing family. In this, the book provides a systematic comparison of the connections between family, kinship and economic activity in different cultures, whereas many of the previous studies have concentrated on only one or a few regions or cultures. It also shows the complexities and challenges when grounding the analysis of economic activity and entrepreneurship in cultural context. 001454870 588__ $$aDescription based on print version record. 001454870 650_0 $$aFamily-owned business enterprises. 001454870 650_0 $$aBusiness anthropology. 001454870 655_0 $$aElectronic books. 001454870 7001_ $$aKöllner, Tobias,$$eeditor.$$1https://isni.org/isni/0000000119933124 001454870 77608 $$iPrint version:$$tFamily firms and business families in cross-cultural perspective.$$dBasingstoke : Palgrave Macmillan, 2023$$z9783031205248$$w(OCoLC)1355071423 001454870 852__ $$bebk 001454870 85640 $$3Springer Nature$$uhttps://univsouthin.idm.oclc.org/login?url=https://link.springer.com/10.1007/978-3-031-20525-5$$zOnline Access$$91397441.1 001454870 909CO $$ooai:library.usi.edu:1454870$$pGLOBAL_SET 001454870 980__ $$aBIB 001454870 980__ $$aEBOOK 001454870 982__ $$aEbook 001454870 983__ $$aOnline 001454870 994__ $$a92$$bISE
