It is partly based on a two-year study, SDH4KIDS, in which the following research question was addressed: Which subtitle-specific aspects have a positive impact on comprehensibility and acceptability of subtitled TV-programmes for d/Deaf and hard of hearing children aged between 8 and 12 ? The quantitative study with over 200 participants was accompanied by a qualitative study gathering eye-tracking data on subtitle reading behaviour with a smaller group of participants of the same age. Both studies are presented and discussed in detail. The results were furthermore used to develop guidelines for professional subtitling practice. In addition, this book provides a historical overview of subtitling practice for people who are d/Deaf or hard of hearing in the Federal Republic and the former German Democratic Republic of Germany. For this, previously unpublished material from the German Federal Archives has been examined. 001459945 588__ $$aOnline resource; title from PDF title page (SpringerLink, viewed March 1, 2023). 001459945 650_0 $$aClosed captioning$$zGermany. 001459945 650_0 $$aChildren's television programs$$zGermany. 001459945 650_0 $$aTelevision for the hearing impaired$$zGermany. 001459945 655_0 $$aElectronic books. 001459945 7001_ $$aWünsche, Maria,$$eauthor. 001459945 7001_ $$aSchulz, Saskia J.$$eauthor. 001459945 77608 $$iPrint version:$$aMälzer, Nathalie$$tCaptioning for Children$$dBerlin : Frank & Timme,c2022$$z9783732905102 001459945 830_0 $$aKommunikation, Partizipation, Inklusion ;$$vBd. 9. 001459945 852__ $$bebk 001459945 85640 $$3Springer Nature$$uhttps://univsouthin.idm.oclc.org/login?url=https://link.springer.com/10.57088/978-3-7329-9489-2$$zOnline Access$$91397441.1 001459945 909CO $$ooai:library.usi.edu:1459945$$pGLOBAL_SET 001459945 980__ $$aBIB 001459945 980__ $$aEBOOK 001459945 982__ $$aEbook 001459945 983__ $$aOnline 001459945 994__ $$a92$$bISE
