However, the evidence base in this area is limited by lack of consensus on the core components of peer support. This research provides a comprehensive, nuanced view of peer support reaching people with schizophrenia. Results of a realist review of 355 sources and interviews with experts in the field are presented. Realist review is an approach to evidence synthesis that asks, "What works, for whom, and in what circumstances?" Results include a typology of key functions of peer support (e.g., being there, linkage to clinical care and community resources, systems advocacy, ongoing support), documented benefits (e.g., decreased acute care utilization, increased recovery), and implementation recommendations (e.g., critical mass of peer workers, supportive infrastructure, an organizational recovery orientation). The book is intended for program planners, managers, and researchers. 001463302 588__ $$aOnline resource; title from PDF title page (SpringerLink, viewed April 19, 2023). 001463302 650_0 $$aSchizophrenia$$xTreatment. 001463302 650_0 $$aPeer counseling. 001463302 650_0 $$aSchizophrenics$$xRehabilitation. 001463302 655_0 $$aElectronic books. 001463302 77608 $$iPrint version:$$z3031290410$$z9783031290411$$w(OCoLC)1370925157 001463302 852__ $$bebk 001463302 85640 $$3Springer Nature$$uhttps://univsouthin.idm.oclc.org/login?url=https://link.springer.com/10.1007/978-3-031-29042-8$$zOnline Access$$91397441.1 001463302 909CO $$ooai:library.usi.edu:1463302$$pGLOBAL_SET 001463302 980__ $$aBIB 001463302 980__ $$aEBOOK 001463302 982__ $$aEbook 001463302 983__ $$aOnline 001463302 994__ $$a92$$bISE
