The book offers original new research from a broad range of case studies in both the US and France. Barichella convincingly demonstrates that multilevel governance matters and is critical if we are to keep global temperatures below the 2C Paris Agreement threshold by the end of the century. Dr. Patrick Schembri, University Paris-Saclay, France This book examines the potential for cities, states and regions to take decisive action on climate change at the local level. Local action constitutes an essential component of global efforts to keep temperatures below the 2C Paris Agreement threshold. Focusing on three green municipal leaders - New York, Boston and Paris - this volume examines their multilevel interactions with higher governance echelons in the United States and France. Even though these countries are located on different continents, similar patterns emerge on both sides of the Atlantic. This book explores the key role of municipalities and sub-state entities in shaping the climate policy agenda vis--vis national governments in the US and France. It argues that inadequate articulation of multilevel governance may jeopardize efforts to limit global temperature increase below the 2C threshold by the end of the century. Arnault Barichella is a post-doctoral researcher with the Institute for Sustainable Energy at the Universit Paris-Saclay, where he works on local climate policies and hybrid hydrogen engines. He received his PhD in Political Science from Sciences Po Paris, with a thesis comparing multilevel climate governance in the US and France; he is an affiliated researcher at Sciences Pos Center for European Studies. Arnault obtained his Masters degree from Sciences Po Paris, his BA degree from Oxford University, and was awarded a visiting fellowship at Harvard University. 001469882 588__ $$aDescription based upon online resource; title from PDF title page (viewed July 3rd, 2023). 001469882 650_0 $$aClimatic changes$$xGovernment policy. 001469882 650_0 $$aUrban ecology (Biology) 001469882 650_0 $$aEnvironmental geography. 001469882 655_0 $$aElectronic books. 001469882 77608 $$iebook version :$$z9783031339363 001469882 77608 $$iPrint version: $$z3031339355$$z9783031339356$$w(OCoLC)1377407994 001469882 77608 $$iPrint version:$$aBARICHELLA, ARNAULT.$$tCAN CITIES, STATES AND REGIONS SAVE OUR PLANET?$$d[S.l.] : PALGRAVE MACMILLAN, 2023$$z3031339355$$w(OCoLC)1377407994 001469882 830_0 $$aEnergy, climate, and the environment series. 001469882 852__ $$bebk 001469882 85640 $$3Springer Nature$$uhttps://univsouthin.idm.oclc.org/login?url=https://link.springer.com/10.1007/978-3-031-33936-3$$zOnline Access$$91397441.1 001469882 909CO $$ooai:library.usi.edu:1469882$$pGLOBAL_SET 001469882 980__ $$aBIB 001469882 980__ $$aEBOOK 001469882 982__ $$aEbook 001469882 983__ $$aOnline 001469882 994__ $$a92$$bISE
