It examines the origins and tradition of the diplomatic doctrine of neutrality and argues that the Monroe Doctrine represents its full realization. The new foreign policy doctrine is placed within its proper diplomatic framework, while the role of Secretary of State John Quincy Adams is highlighted. What remains remarkable, is how high on the U.S. policy agenda the Greek War of Independence was and how close it came to being politically vindicated. The epilogue of this book demonstrates based on specific historical episodes, that the Greek Fire and the Monroe Doctrine set in many ways the political framework that came to define Hellenic-American relations for almost the next two centuries. 001471904 588__ $$aDescription based on print version record. 001471904 650_0 $$aMonroe doctrine. 001471904 650_0 $$aNeutrality$$zUnited States. 001471904 651_0 $$aUnited States$$xForeign relations$$zGreece. 001471904 651_0 $$aGreece$$xForeign relations$$zUnited States. 001471904 651_0 $$aGreece$$xHistory$$yWar of Independence, 1821-1829. 001471904 655_0 $$aElectronic books. 001471904 77608 $$iebook version :$$z9783031297045 001471904 77608 $$iPrint version: $$z3031297032$$z9783031297038$$w(OCoLC)1371400708 001471904 77608 $$iPrint version:$$aTZIAMPIRIS, ARISTOTLE.$$tMONROE DOCTRINE AND THE GREEK REVOLUTION.$$d[S.l.] : PALGRAVE MACMILLAN, 2023$$z3031297032$$w(OCoLC)1371400708 001471904 830_0 $$aStudies in diplomacy and international relations. 001471904 852__ $$bebk 001471904 85640 $$3Springer Nature$$uhttps://univsouthin.idm.oclc.org/login?url=https://link.springer.com/10.1007/978-3-031-29704-5$$zOnline Access$$91397441.1 001471904 909CO $$ooai:library.usi.edu:1471904$$pGLOBAL_SET 001471904 980__ $$aBIB 001471904 980__ $$aEBOOK 001471904 982__ $$aEbook 001471904 983__ $$aOnline 001471904 994__ $$a92$$bISE
