Chapters analyze how perspectives on caregiving are complicated by varying cultural, gendered, and racialized stereotypes and representations that pull different fathers toward or push them away from particular models of fatherhood in an urban context. Additionally, the author interrogates how societal conceptions of mens bodies also play a role in how men understand their experiences of fatherhood. This book will be of interest to scholars and students studying gender, masculinity, and fatherhood. Dr. Catherine Gallais has a doctorate in Anthropology, Sociology, and Gender Studies and specialises in fatherhood and masculinities. She is an associate member of the research unit Laboratoire interdisciplinaire en tudes culturelles (LinCS UMR 7069) and a lecturer at the University of Strasbourg in France. Her scholarly interests are centered on issues of social justice, intersectionality, race and racism, practices of care and embodiment, always in relation to men, masculinities, and fatherhood. She has published book chapters and journal articles on men, masculinities, and care. 001475943 588__ $$aDescription based on online resource; title from digital title page (viewed on September 05, 2023). 001475943 650_0 $$aFatherhood$$xSocial aspects$$zNew York (State)$$zNew York. 001475943 650_0 $$aMasculinity$$xSocial aspects$$zNew York (State)$$zNew York. 001475943 655_0 $$aElectronic books. 001475943 77608 $$iPrint version:$$aGallais, Catherine$$tFatherhood and Masculinities$$dCham : Springer International Publishing AG,c2023$$z9783031341311 001475943 830_0 $$aGenders and sexualities in the social sciences. 001475943 852__ $$bebk 001475943 85640 $$3Springer Nature$$uhttps://univsouthin.idm.oclc.org/login?url=https://link.springer.com/10.1007/978-3-031-34132-8$$zOnline Access$$91397441.1 001475943 909CO $$ooai:library.usi.edu:1475943$$pGLOBAL_SET 001475943 980__ $$aBIB 001475943 980__ $$aEBOOK 001475943 982__ $$aEbook 001475943 983__ $$aOnline 001475943 994__ $$a92$$bISE
