In bringing to light her embodied literary processes, from drafting and composition to hand-printing and binding, this study foregrounds the interactions between Woolf's modernist experimentation and the visual and material aspects of her printed works. By drawing on the field of print culture, as well as the materialist turn in Woolf scholarship, it explores how her experience in print, book-design and publishing underlines her experimental writing, and how her literary texts are conditioned by the context of their production. This book, therefore, provides new ways of reading Woolf's modernism in the context of twentieth-century print, material, and visual cultures. By suggesting that Woolf's work at the Hogarth Press sensitized her to the significant role the visual aspects of a text play in its system of representation, it also considers the extent to which materiality informs both her work, as well as her engagement with Bloomsbury formalist aesthetics, which often exaggerate the distinction between visual and verbal modes of expression. 001480813 588__ $$aDescription based on online resource; title from digital title page (viewed on October 13, 2023). 001480813 60010 $$aWoolf, Virginia,$$d1882-1941$$xCriticism and interpretation.$$d1882-1941.$$tRoom of one's own$$0(OCoLC)oca00994687 001480813 61020 $$aHogarth Press$$1https://isni.org/isni/0000000107068671 001480813 650_0 $$aAuthorship.$$xSociological aspects$$0sh 89006495 001480813 650_0 $$aPublishers and publishing.$$0(DLC)sh 85106520 001480813 650_0 $$aPrinting. 001480813 650_0 $$aAesthetics. 001480813 655_0 $$aElectronic books. 001480813 77608 $$iPrint version:$$aJENKINS, AMBER.$$tVIRGINIA WOOLF, LITERARY MATERIALITY AND FEMINIST AESTHETICS.$$d[Place of publication not identified] : PALGRAVE MACMILLAN, 2023$$z3031324900$$w(OCoLC)1375060331 001480813 830_0 $$aMaterial modernisms. 001480813 852__ $$bebk 001480813 85640 $$3Springer Nature$$uhttps://univsouthin.idm.oclc.org/login?url=https://link.springer.com/10.1007/978-3-031-32491-8$$zOnline Access$$91397441.1 001480813 909CO $$ooai:library.usi.edu:1480813$$pGLOBAL_SET 001480813 980__ $$aBIB 001480813 980__ $$aEBOOK 001480813 982__ $$aEbook 001480813 983__ $$aOnline 001480813 994__ $$a92$$bISE
