The grassland ecosystem covers above 60% of QTP, which is about 2.5 million km2, 1/4 of Chinese total territorial lands. The grassland ecosystem of the QTP (the Third Pole) is an important part of the palaearctic region, which features alpine cover and low oxygen. The Third Pole's grasslands not only provide important ecosystem functions such as biodiversity conservation, carbon storage, water resource regulation, climate control, and natural disaster mitigation at a global scale, but also provide critical ecosystem services such as pastoral production, cultural inheritance, and tourism and recreation at local and regional scales. The purposes of this monograph are to address the following questions: (1) What are the special features of the Third Pole's grasslands? (2) How have climate changes and human activities changed the structures and functions of the Third Pole's grasslands? (3) How can we cope with land degradation and climate change through innovative restoration and protective actions for Third Pole's grasslands? And (4) How can we promote the sustainable development of social-ecological systems of the Third Pole's grasslands through best management practices including grazing? The goal of this book is to attract the attention of international audiences to realize the importance of the Third Poles grasslands, and to call for the actions of global communities to effectively protect and sustainably use the Third Pole's grasslands. This book can be served as textbooks, teaching materials and documentaries for different audiences. The target audiences include students, teachers, researchers, policy makers, planners, government officials, and NGOs in agricultural, environmental and natural resources sectors. 001482393 588__ $$aOnline resource; title from PDF title page (SpringerLink, viewed October 24, 2023). 001482393 650_6 $$aPrairies$$zChine$$zQinghai (Sheng) 001482393 650_6 $$aPrairies$$zTibet, Plateau du. 001482393 650_6 $$aClimat$$xChangements$$zChine$$zQinghai (Sheng) 001482393 650_6 $$aClimat$$xChangements$$zTibet, Plateau du. 001482393 650_0 $$aEcology$$zChina$$zQinghai Sheng.$$zUnited States$$0(DLC)sh2009114149 001482393 650_0 $$aEcology$$zTibet, Plateau of.$$zUnited States$$0(DLC)sh2009114149 001482393 650_0 $$aGrasslands$$zChina$$zQinghai Sheng. 001482393 650_0 $$aGrasslands$$zTibet, Plateau of. 001482393 650_0 $$aClimatic changes$$zChina$$zQinghai Sheng.$$xClimatic factors$$0(DLC)sh 92005008 001482393 650_0 $$aClimatic changes$$zTibet, Plateau of.$$xClimatic factors$$0(DLC)sh 92005008 001482393 655_0 $$aElectronic books. 001482393 7001_ $$aZhang, Yong. 001482393 7001_ $$aShen, Hao. 001482393 7001_ $$aLi, Shuai. 001482393 7001_ $$aXu, Yudan. 001482393 77608 $$iPrint version:$$aDong, Shikui$$tGrasslands on the Third Pole of the World$$dCham : Springer International Publishing AG,c2023$$z9783031394843 001482393 852__ $$bebk 001482393 85640 $$3Springer Nature$$uhttps://univsouthin.idm.oclc.org/login?url=https://link.springer.com/10.1007/978-3-031-39485-0$$zOnline Access$$91397441.1 001482393 909CO $$ooai:library.usi.edu:1482393$$pGLOBAL_SET 001482393 980__ $$aBIB 001482393 980__ $$aEBOOK 001482393 982__ $$aEbook 001482393 983__ $$aOnline 001482393 994__ $$a92$$bISE
