Originally published in Portuguese, this contributed volume is now translated into English and presents for the first time to international researchers and students a comprehensive overview of a research program developed for more than three decades in Brazil which gave birth to a unique teaching program based on the concept of stimulus equivalence: the Learning to Read and Write in Small Steps. The book is divided into four parts. The first part presents the theoretical framework and the historical context in which the teaching program was developed by the group led by Drs. Julio Cesar de Rose and Deisy das Graas de Souza, currently organized in the National Institute of Science and Technology on Behavior, Cognition, and Learning (INCT/ECCE). The second part describes the modules that make up the Learning to Read and Write in Small Steps teaching program. The third part presents results of empirical research conducted with children with intellectual and hearing disabilities and illiterate adults. Finally, the fourth part presents contributions from other areas of knowledge such as speech therapy, linguistics, and education to the understanding of reading and writing and possible dialogues between them and behavior analysis. Contributions of Behavior Analysis to Reading and Writing Comprehension will be of interest to researchers and students in the fields of psychology and education interested in the application of behavior analysis to teaching and learning processes. It will also be a valuable resource for professionals directly working in educational institutions, such as elementary school teachers and psycho-pedagogues. The translation of the original manuscript in Portuguese was done with the help of artificial intelligence. The present version has been revised technically and linguistically by the authors in collaboration with a professional translator."--Provided by publisher. 001482635 588__ $$aDescription based on online resource; title from digital title page (ProQuest Ebook Central, viewed November 16, 2023). 001482635 650_6 $$aPsychologie de l'apprentissage. 001482635 650_6 $$aClasses (Éducation)$$xConduite$$zBrésil. 001482635 650_0 $$aLiteracy$$zBrazil.$$0(DLC)sh 85029509 001482635 650_0 $$aLearning, Psychology of.$$vCase studies$$0(DLC)sh2009129431 001482635 650_0 $$aClassroom management$$zBrazil.$$zUnited States$$vHandbooks, manuals, etc.$$0(DLC)sh2009120377 001482635 655_0 $$aElectronic books. 001482635 7001_ $$aAlbuquerque, Alessandra Rocha de,$$eeditor. 001482635 7001_ $$aMelo, Raquel Maria de,$$eeditor. 001482635 77608 $$iPrint version:$$tContributions of behavior analysis to reading and writing comprehension.$$dCham : Springer, 2023$$z9783031408670$$w(OCoLC)1402253319 001482635 852__ $$bebk 001482635 85640 $$3Springer Nature$$uhttps://univsouthin.idm.oclc.org/login?url=https://link.springer.com/10.1007/978-3-031-40868-7$$zOnline Access$$91397441.1 001482635 909CO $$ooai:library.usi.edu:1482635$$pGLOBAL_SET 001482635 980__ $$aBIB 001482635 980__ $$aEBOOK 001482635 982__ $$aEbook 001482635 983__ $$aOnline 001482635 994__ $$a92$$bISE
