Electoral Reforms in Central Europe since 1989. 001483986 506__ $$aAccess limited to authorized users. 001483986 520__ $$aThis book on the politics of electoral reform in Central Europe since 1989 explains by whom, why, and how the electoral rules were changed in Central Europe in the post-Communist period. Examining the contextual factors affecting, underlying, and/or initiating these changes, the book identifies main actors, their motivations, and other circumstances surrounding the electoral reform processes. It further explores their political consequences, particularly on proportionality and personalization. Based on a detailed analysis of electoral reform processes in Czechoslovakia, Czechia, Hungary, and Slovakia over the past thirty years, the book discusses how the politics of electoral reform in Central Europe is mostly driven, controlled, and decided by politicians, with other actors being either overlooked or ignored. Finally, it argues that most of the cases were imposed by an elite majority, with the sole exception of the Czech Republic, where the politics of electoral reform were influenced by the intervention of the constitutional court as an external actor. The book will appeal to students, researchers, and scholars of political science interested in a better understanding of electoral politics in general, as well as democratic transformation processes and electoral reform in Central Europe. 001483986 588__ $$aOnline resource; title from PDF title page (SpringerLink, viewed November 21, 2023). 001483986 650_6 $$aÉlections$$zEurope centrale. 001483986 650_0 $$aElections$$zEurope, Central.$$zUnited States$$0(DLC)sh2007101203 001483986 651_0 $$aEurope, Central$$xPolitics and government$$y1989- 001483986 651_6 $$aEurope centrale$$xPolitique et gouvernement$$y1989- 001483986 655_0 $$aElectronic books. 001483986 77608 $$iPrint version:$$z3031450825$$z9783031450822$$w(OCoLC)1395536922 001483986 830_0 $$aSpringer series in electoral politics. 001483986 852__ $$bebk 001483986 85640 $$3Springer Nature$$uhttps://univsouthin.idm.oclc.org/login?url=https://link.springer.com/10.1007/978-3-031-45083-9$$zOnline Access$$91397441.1 001483986 909CO $$ooai:library.usi.edu:1483986$$pGLOBAL_SET 001483986 980__ $$aBIB 001483986 980__ $$aEBOOK 001483986 982__ $$aEbook 001483986 983__ $$aOnline 001483986 994__ $$a92$$bISE
