The course is also essential to attract students into the IS major and mitigate declines in IS enrollment. This paper provides a roadmap and description of implementing an IIS course as part of the business core curriculum at a public university in the Midwestern United States. The roadmap is rooted in both generalizable and institution-specific contexts and includes the identification of key stakeholders, institutional challenges, and nine course design principles. The core principles are outlined and recognized as the foundation of the success of the course. Following course implementation, we present the evaluation of the success of our roadmap and reflect on lessons learned in the process. 001492586 6531_ $$a Information systems education 001492586 6531_ $$aIntroductory course 001492586 6531_ $$aCurriculum design & development 001492586 6531_ $$aIS curriculum 001492586 7001_ $$aBačić, Dinko$$uLoyola University 001492586 7001_ $$aShemroske, Kenneth$$uUniversity of Southern Indiana 001492586 773__ $$tJournal of Information Systems Education 001492586 8564_ $$90249156e-5fa2-4c33-9920-a95fd2d9b47d$$s988986$$uhttps://library.usi.edu/record/1492586/files/JISE2024v35n2pp160-174.pdf 001492586 909CO $$ooai:library.usi.edu:1492586$$pGLOBAL_SET 001492586 980__ $$aMANUSCRIPT
