Abstract

A Printed Circuit Board (FOB) Factory is located in the Applied Engineering Center on the University of Southern Indiana Campus. The factory uses a robotic arm to install small components on printed circuit boards. This project will make the PCB factory more efficient and easier to use by tlie development and fabrication of a parts guard and a JEDEC tray. The parts guard will keep the operator from bumping into the part reels. The JEDEC ti'ays will have different size compartments to hold various sizes of microchips and components. The ti'ay will help keep the parts more organized and aligned properly, so the robotic arm vision system can identify the parts for placement on the printed circuit board.
