Advertisement for William H. Glover's Shaving Parlor at 317 Upper (South) First St. The text reads: ""I do nothing but first-class work, and none but first-class workmen work in my shop. We use nothing but the best toilets. We use pure clean linen towels. I solicit a part of your patronage. When you need your hair cut or want a shave and want it done in an artistic style, call at my place and I guarantee you will go away highly pleased. Now please don't forget the place and number and don't fail to come and see me. I will do you good. Ladies Hair Dressing and Shampooing a Specialty."" According to the text on p. 166 of We Ask Only a Fair Trial, this business ""was open from 1895 until 1929. Renowned for its attractive furnishings and service, the shop was a favorite among white professionals and businessmen. The shop was closed, after Glovers death, because his son chose to pursue other interests."" He died in 1929 at age 63.
