John Ingle and Co. opened Ingleside Mine's first shaft in 1866 into Coal Mine Hill. It extended under the Ohio River on the western edge of the city at the foot of the hill. This hill is more commonly known today as Reitz Hill. The mine was torn down circa 1918, probably when F.J. Reitz High School was built atop the hill. This is postcard 82.-6.
