Description
Greyhound Bus Station at 102 NW 3rd St. "The foundation was originally begun in 1920 as the Cadick Theater. After construction halted the site sat dormant for years. The curved foundation was later used when the Greyhound built a bus station here. Construction began spring 1938 and [the] Greyhound Bus Depot opened 1939. The station closed in 2007 when Greyhound moved its buses to the expanded METS station at 6th and Vine. (http://historicevansville.com/site.php?id=greyhound) In recent years this building has been meticulously restored, even including the neon running greyhound atop the vertical sign. Since 2016 it has been a restaurant which kept much of the interior, too. This is postcard 12 AT 644. Text on the back of a similar postcards reads, "Completed in 1938 at a cost of $150,000. One of the most modern Bus Stations in the United States. 106 buses are scheduled in and out of the Station each day." This is postcard 12 AT 644.
