The B'nai Israel congregation was organized in 1857 and moved into this new building in 1903. It was destroyed by fire in 1925 but rebuilt. In 1980 this congregation consolidated with that of Adath Israel and moved into its facility, further east on Washington Ave. The building here was sold to Patchwork Central, an inner-city community organization. Due to a fire in the bakery, this building was once again destroyed by fire in 1983. Only the tower on the left remained and still remains today after Patchwork built a newer commercial style building. NOTE: Temple Adath B'nail Israel now worships in a modern building near the Warrick County line. 001512253 542__ $$fhttp://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC-NC/1.0/ 001512253 6531_ $$aReligion 001512253 655__ $$aColor Photograph 001512253 691__ $$aEvansville, IN 001512253 7001_ $$aLewellin Post Card 001512253 8564_ $$90c56025d-1cef-411f-a8dd-022db9a86b55$$s4738947$$uhttps://library.usi.edu/record/1512253/files/20457.jpg 001512253 909CO $$ooai:library.usi.edu:1512253$$pGLOBAL_SET 001512253 914__ $$aVolume963/RH 033-090.tif 001512253 914__ $$aRLIC 001512253 980__ $$aSpecial & Regional History Collection 001512253 984__ $$aEvansville Postcard Collection 001512253 985__ $$aImage
