Mechanic Arts High School at 2319 Stringtown Rd. Completed in 1938, in 1956 this became what is now the old North High School. In 2012 North moved to a new facility and this building now houses the Academy of Innovative Studies, an alternative education operation. Over the years the facade of this building changed so that what is pictured here is no longer visible. Text on the back of the postcard notes that this vocational school was "a part of the free public school sytem of Evansville. The school stands on a 22 acre tract of land, erected at a cost of $200,000 and has equipment valued at approximately $80,000."
