Picture of John C. Leffel (1850-1935). He is buried in Bellefontaine Cemetery in Mt. Vernon, IN. He was the owner/editor of the Western Star newspaper, founded in 1877. For ten years he also published a German language paper, Wochenblatt. He was the first in the county to install power presses, and the building that housed his newspaper was built according to plans he furnished.
