Description

Postcard of Lockyear's Business College at 209 NW 5th St. built this building in 1911. "Originally named Columbian Business College when it opened in 1893 at Fourth and Main streets, the institution became known as Lockyear Business College after Melvin H. Lockyear became president four years later. Continuing growth led to the new building on Fifth Street, which was erected two years before the adjacent YMCA building." Lockyear Business College closed in April 1991 after going bankrupt. The main building was later razed in 1993."(http://historicevansville.com/site.php?id=lockyear)
