Postcard of the Hotel McCurdy at 101-111 SE 1st St., called Riverside View--this is the Riverside Dr. side of the hotel. Built on the site of the St. George Hotel (1874-1915), the McCurdy opened for business in 1917. In its heyday this was quite a magnificent and popular place, with a ballroom on the top floor. It overlooks the Ohio River. The hotel closed in 1969 and the building fell into some disrepair after being used as a retirement home and a nursing home. It has recently (2017) reopened as luxury apartments.
