The building still stands, but is now referred to as the old courthouse, as government offices moved into another building in 1969. (It would not have served as a courthouse at the time of this photograph.) The courthouse spans the block between NW 4th St. and NW 5th St., bounded by Vine St. and Court St. This eagle ornamentation is on both the Vine St. and Court St. sides of the building, below the cupola. The wear patterns make this appear to be the one on the Court St. side. (SEE ALSO MSS 184-0164.) The courthouse sits on ground that was once the turnaround for the Wabash and Erie Canal. 001515067 542__ $$fhttp://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC-NC/1.0/ 001515067 6531_ $$aBuildings 001515067 655__ $$aColor Photograph 001515067 691__ $$aEvansville, IN 001515067 7001_ $$aBrad Awe 001515067 8564_ $$928ec5349-0365-4fc2-a339-6ff1c6b5e11d$$s6755732$$uhttps://library.usi.edu/record/1515067/files/25315.jp2 001515067 909CO $$ooai:library.usi.edu:1515067$$pGLOBAL_SET 001515067 914__ $$aVolume1133/MSS 184-0203.tif 001515067 914__ $$aRLIC 001515067 980__ $$aSpecial & Regional History Collection 001515067 984__ $$aBrad Awe Collection 001515067 985__ $$aImage
