Next is the 1889 Boston Store at 417-423 Main St., a dry goods store run by Fowler, Dick, & Walker. At the time this was the city's largest department store. Next is the circa 1885 G.W. Geissler Shoe Co. (George W. and George C. Geissler) at 415 Main St. The tall building is Evansville's first skyscraper, the 1916 Citizens National Bank at 329-331 Main St. On the right is the dental office of Dr. Edmund Laughlin at 432 Main St., above what might be a pool hall and cigar store run by Joseph C. Buchart. Nothing else on this side can be positively identified due to the angle of the photograph, but the clock on the sidewalk might belong to a jeweler by the name of Charles Kroener at 426 Main St.--it was common for jewelers to have clocks like this. The building where the Hub was is still standing. The shoe store is now a restaurant. The bank building, aka the Hilliard Lyons building, now houses luxury apartments. Most of the other buildings are thought to have been razed.
