In its heyday this was quite a magnificent and popular place, with a ballroom on the top floor. It overlooks the Ohio River. The hotel closed in 1969 and the building fell into some disrepair after being used as a retirement home and a nursing home. It has recently (2017) reopened as luxury apartments. Immediately next to that is the Kingfish restaurant at 1 SE 1st St., at the corner with Locust St. This business opened in October of 1977. It was listed in the 1979 city directory, but not in the 1984. No trace of this exists today. The white building in front of the parking lot is not identified. The oxbow bend in the Ohio River is partially visible here. 001515106 542__ $$fhttp://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC-NC/1.0/ 001515106 6531_ $$aBuildings 001515106 655__ $$aColor Photograph 001515106 691__ $$aEvansville, IN 001515106 7001_ $$aBrad Awe 001515106 8564_ $$975f39c83-c017-4a9b-b635-11513fcc717b$$s7264496$$uhttps://library.usi.edu/record/1515106/files/26249.jp2 001515106 909CO $$ooai:library.usi.edu:1515106$$pGLOBAL_SET 001515106 914__ $$aVolume1165/MSS 184-1609.tif 001515106 914__ $$aRLIC 001515106 980__ $$aSpecial & Regional History Collection 001515106 984__ $$aBrad Awe Collection 001515106 985__ $$aImage
