Oral history interview of Arlin McRae. Arlin Tine "Mac" McRae was drafted into WWII (1943-1946) in the Marines, Company D, 2nd Battalion, 26th Marine Regiment, 5th Marine Division. As a Private First (1st) Class, he saw action in the Pacific Theater, including Hawaii, Guam, and various places in Japan. He was a rifleman, on anti-tank duty, scouted and patrolled, and commanded his squad. He was in the second wave to land on Iwo Jima. He received a bullet wound to his jaw there, and received a Purple Heart.
