Description

Oral history interview of Ann Volz. Ann Ruxer Volz did not serve in the military, but she did work at Hoosier Cardinal, a plastics company that made tail assemblies for the P-47 Thunderbolt. She talks about life on the homefront, dancing with soldiers at the USO, walking to work, reading the newspaper for war news, and being expected to sign up for war bonds at work. She carried on a lively correspondance from 1941-1945 with both girl friends and young men in the military, one of whom she married after the war, Leo Volz. Her collection of letters is available online in MSS 295.
