Oral history interview of Don Whoberry. Donald H. Whoberry enlisted in WWII in the Navy and was a Seaman First (1st) class aboard the USS Speed (AM-116) and the USS Ptarmigan (AM-376), both minesweepers. He saw action at Enewetak Atoll (Marshall Islands), Guam (Mariana Islands), Okinawa Island (Ryukyu Islands), Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, and Saipan (Northern Mariana Islands). He received a Victory and Good Conduct medal. He was responsible for taking care of the ship and a battle station.
