Oral history interview of Harold Pettus. Harold D. Pettus was drafted into service in WWII (1943-1946) with the Army, Battery B, 788th Field Artillery Regiment, 9th Army. He was a Private First (1st) Class. He served at Camps Hood (Texas) and Shanks (New York) as well as Forts Bragg (North Carolina) and Lewis (Washington), He also served in the European Theater in England, Germany, Holland, and Le Havre, France. He was a powder man for 8" howitzers and also saw guard duty.
