Oral history interview of Robert Watson. Robert L. Watson was employed at Republic Aviation during WWII. He had been building airplane hangers at Ft. Campbell (KY) and wanted to work at the LST shipyard, but in February 1942 began at Republic. He got rheumatic fever and was off for 8 weeks. He then worked for a short period of time with the Kentucky draft board before getting a determent. The 2nd time he was examined he was deemed physically unfit to serve in the military, and returned to Republic Aviation for 36 months and head of the rework department.
