Oral history interview of Melvin Faw. Melvin L. Faw enlisted in WWII (1943-1945) in the Army and served as Private First (1st) Class with F Company, 398th Infantry Regiment, 100th Infantry Division, 7th Army. He saw action in the European Theater, specifically Germany and France, and was present at the Battle of the Bulge and the Central Europe and Rhineland campaigns. He was a rifleman, and earned a Bronze Star for Valor, a Purple Heart, and 2 campaign stars. He suffered injury to his left hand and right arm and had some paralysis. About half of his unit was killed or wounded.
