Oral history interview of Charles Vessell. Charles Owen Vessell, Jr. enlisted in WWII (1942-1945) in the Navy Air Corps Torpedo Squadron No. 4 and was a Radioman Second (2nd) Class. It appears as though his service was domestic, and he received a Good Conduct Medal. When the war ended he was in the Pacific for 6 months aboard various carriers (no home ship) and worked to repair landing strips.
