Oral history interview of Joe Duckworth. Joseph A. Duckworth enlisted in WWII (1943-1944) in the Navy as a Signalman Third (3rd) Class. He served aboard LST 480 (4 battles) and LST 38 (9 battles), in the Pacific Theater. He also served as a quartermaster and gunners mate. He was only aboard LST 480 4 months before there was an explosion. He was 60% disabled. During another tour he helped unload 17 tanks on Iwo Jima. He received a Silver Star for valor.
