Oral history interview of Robert Starrett. Robert Harvey Starrett enlisted in WWII (1942-1947) in the Navy as a Boatswain's (Bosun's) Mate First (1st) Class. He served aboard the USS Hermitage and USS Stockholm (DD 683) in the Pacific Theater. He had maintenance, rigging, and master of arms duties.He served in the Pacific Theater, seeing activity in Australia, the Marianas, Okinawa, Saipan, Iwo Jima (there when the flag was raised), and Guam. It is believed he also served in the Vietnam War (1947-1952).
