Oral history interview of William Strahl. William Glenn Strahl was drafted into WWII (1940?-1946?) in the Army 315th Infantry 79th Division, serving as a Private First (1st) Class. He saw action in the European Theater, landing at Omaha Beach 2 weeks after D-Day. He was shot in the head and recuperated in Paris, possibly with Patton's 3rd Army. He was captured by the SS and put in a prison camp, from which he escaped. He was awarded a Purple Heart and Bronze Star.
