Oral history interview of George Weigele. George C. Weigele was drafted into WWII (1942-1945) in the Army, Headquarters Company, 1st Battalion, 5th Infantry Division, 232nd Infantry Regiment, 42nd Infantry Division, 7th Army, 243rd Combat Engineers Battalion and was a sergeant. He received a Bronze Star, and saw action in the European Theater in Austria, Belgium, France, Iceland, Nuremberg, Germany, Schweinfurt, Germany, Sossenheim, Germany, and Wurzburg, Germany. He was an engineer. His regiment was part of Task Force Linden that fought in Strasbourg and along the Rhine, and later liberated Dachau.
