Oral history interview of Loran Bailey. Loran D. Bailey enlisted in WWII (1945-1946) in the Navy, serving aboard the USS Seginus (AK 133) and USS Shipley Bay (CVE 85). He was a Fireman First (1st) Class, working in the engine room and standing watch. He saw action in the Pacific Theater, at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii and Saipan (Northern Mariana Islands). He participated in Operation Magic Carpet after the war ended, the massive effort to return American troops home.
