Chrysler Corp. plant at 1625 N. Garvin St. Just across the railroad tracks is Grimes Veneer & Lumber Co. at 1101 Eichel Ave. During WWII, the Chrysler plant converted within 5 months to the Evansville Ordinance Plant, and made some 96% of the .45 ammunition manufactured in the U.S. during WWII.
