Dr. Kung Chao Yeh, ambassador to U.S. from the Republic of China and later the Foreign Minister of the Chinese Nationalist Government on the mainland and the island on Taiwan was the speaker at the First District Medical Society at the Farm Bureau Co-op Park. 150 medical people attended. He was a distinguished diplomat, teacher, doctor, and author and was the guest of Dr. William Challman [Dr. William Bower Challman (1908-1979)] whom he had met during the second world war. Just weeks prior to coming here he took part in President Eisenhower's visit to Formosa. Vernon] with her husband, physician, Dr. William Challman in the depths of the depression in 1932. Dorothy stayed busy writing, teaching in the Mt. Vernon school system, traveling and educating herself. She graduated from Indiana University in 1929 with a degree in English and Journalism.
