Description

Booker T. Washington Grade School on the corner of Owen St. and E. 3rd St. This was the primary school for African Americans in the early 1900s until it burned in 1932. It was rebuilt by the WPA on the site of the original. It closed in 1955 with integration came to public schools. The April 2012 Google maps view shows it still standing and in decent condition considering that it appears to be unused.
