Ruins of Hominy Mill on Water St. This photograph might be explained by this text from History of Posey County by John C. Leffel, 1913 (Google Books online), p. 190, American Hominy Company, Plant F. Mt. Vernon. This business was established in 1877 by Cooper, Hudnut & Warder and later incorporated as The Hudnut Company. The original mill, erected in 1877, was destroyed by fire in 1893 and the present one was completed in 1894.
