Thomas E. Dewey on a whistle stop campaign. Dewey (1902-1971) was the Republican governor of New York who ran for president against Harry Truman. Truman won in a huge upset. Proof was found that Truman made a whistlestop in Mt. Vernon, Thomas Dewey did not stop in Mt. Vernon, but did wave to the crowd as his train passed through the town.
